Woodlawn Supported Independence Program
Supported Independence is a term commonly used in the mental health community. Community of Mental Health (CMH) agencies mean well and encourage families to choose this type of placement. When the CMH budget and staffing are not adequate or are cut, the client does not thrive and often has to relocate.
Woodlawn was developed in April 2015 to enhance the living skills for those clients who are capable and desiring of a lesser restrictive environment. Many have lived independently in the past but were not given the daily supports necessary to succeed long term. They receive daily support from MMI staff and management in learning the skills necessary to be successful in the community. We are paving the way with person centered planning at it's best.
